A Day in the Life of a Young Person with Anxiety

January 12, 2017 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Gas Station Arts Centre
445 River Ave
Winnipeg, MB R3L 0C3

Join University of Manitoba professor Dr. Roberta Woodgate for a free event highlighting her research on youth experiences living with anxiety. The event will include a screening of 5 video vignettes that feature the stories of young people living with anxiety as performed by dancers from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Aspirant Program. Quotes and photographs from the study were shared with the artistic director and choreographer Philippe-Alexandre Jacques who developed a series of 5 dance vignettes in partnership with Dr. Woodgate and Wookey Films. The video vignettes that resulted from this collaborative process are visually beautiful and provide compelling and thought provoking narratives. A panel discussion, photovoice exhibit, and reception will follow the screening. Following the event the videos will then be available on-line and will become part of a package for health professionals and educators to use in a variety of contexts relating to youth, anxiety, and mental health.

Doors open at 7:00 pm (rush seating). *In lieu of admission please consider making a donation to a mental health charity of your choice
