Canada in the World: Canada at 150

The 33rd Annual JWD Political Studies Students’ Conference (PSSC) will be held from January 25th to 27th at the University of Manitoba. Entitled Canada in the World: Canada at 150, the conference is dedicated to the study of Canada’s historical and ongoing place in global affairs. It is FREE, open to the public, and wheelchair accessible.

We open the conference on January 25th with our keynote speaker: prominent Canadian journalist and National Affairs columnist for the Toronto Star, Mr. Paul Wells which will take place at Mcnally Robinson Booksellers (1120 Grant Avenue) at 7 pm.

The conference will consist of five panels related to the topic of Canada’s role in the world and each panel will consist of guest speakers from a diversity of backgrounds and areas of expertise, including academics, practitioners, and policy experts from across North America. The conference serves to inform the Winnipeg public about contemporary issues and themes at play in the world today, and showcase the talent of the University’s professors and international experts. The conference is free to the public and attracts over 600 audience participants. As such, it is one of the university’s largest public outreach programs.
