Torch of Dignity 2017

August 7, 2017 @ 9:00 am – 12:30 pm

Manitobans for Human Rights 2nd Annual Torch of Dignity Relay

Join the 2nd Annual Torch of Dignity Relay! Manitobans For Human Rights Inc.supports the importance of equality and learning to all Manitobans.  We exist to raise awareness for Human Rights with the ultimate goal of having Winnipeg declared a Human Rights City. This year’s event and the over 50 organizations invited to participate will showcase that goal and we invite you to share in it.

This year’s relay will begin in historic Kildonan Park and the route will proceed down Main St. to the Oodena Celebration Circle at the historic Forks site. The Bear Clan patrol and the Winnipeg Police will be honorary marshals for the route.

The Torch of Dignity’s call to action was undertaken at our first inaugural relay on June 23, 2016 which introduced our group and our message for positive dialogue, dignity and equality for all sectors of society. This year we hope to further increase awareness in conjunction with the 2017 Canada Games here in Winnipeg.

Dignitaries such as David Northcott, past CEO of Winnipeg Harvest, will be on hand to bring messages of equality, inclusion and diversity. MHRI hopes your organization will be able to join them with other notables, such as Mae Louis Campbell, Chief Jim Bear, and a diverse group of Torch of Dignity relay participants to demonstrate our commitments to human rights and dignity for all. All monies raised go to support Human Rights Learning in Manitoba.

They respectfully request that you support this year’s Torch of Dignity by sponsoring a Torch Runner or Runners, from your organization. You can do so by contacting the office and we will email or fax your office a registration form. If you prefer you may also support online through Eventbrite – 2017 Torch of Dignity.
