On May 29 the Pride flag will be raised on the Bannatyne and Fort Garry campuses in recognition of Winnipeg Pride. The official ceremony will take place on Bannaytne campus in Brodie Atrium and include remarks by Dr. Janice Ristock, Provost and Vice-President (Academic), and members of the U of M LGBTTQI* community. There will also be a Pride flag raised on Fort Garry campus. The flags will fly for the entirety of Pride, May 29 to June 4.

Joe Doupe Recreation Centre, Bannaytne campus
All bodies and genders will be celebrated at Zumba dance parties at the Joe Doupe Recreation Centre on Bannatyne campus and MPS in the Active Living Centre on Fort Garry campus. Zumba fitness is a Latin-inspired cardio-dance workout that uses music and choreographed steps to form a fitness party atmosphere. No experience necessary! Gender inclusive spaces to change are available at both locations. Please notify the front desk when you arrive. Thank you to the University of Manitoba Active Living Centre, Joe Doupe Recreation Centre and Zumba4Ever for their support of these events.

The LGBTTQI* reception is an opportunity for LGBTTQI* students, staff, faculty, alumni and allies to network and mingle in a relaxed environment. The event is free of charge and light refreshments will be provided. Attendees may play board games for $6. Please RSVP to Chelsea.Jalloh@umanitoba.ca.

All University of Manitoba staff, faculty and students are invited to walk in the Pride parade under the U of M banner. Members of the LGBTTQI* community and allies are welcome and encouraged to participate! The U of M will have a booth set up at the Festival at the Forks with an interactive display and photo booth. Come out and get your free U of M Pride giveaway materials, including t-shirts, buttons, paper flags, Frisbees and sunglasses.
There will be a number of fun and free events throughout Pride week, including a kick-off Drag Show on May 19th at noon in the Brodie Atrium at Bannatyne campus, An LGBTTQI* reception on June 1st at 5:00 p.m., and Zumba Dance Parties for All Bodies and All Genders (at Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses).
