Denise Sarmiento (she/her/hers) is a first-generation Filipino immigrant and is in her third-year of law school. Throughout her law school career, she has been involved in many human rights initiatives such as Pro Bono Students Canada, Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties, and the Human Rights Clinic. She has spent her summers working as a student in criminal defence at Legal Aid Manitoba, and her research interests include access to justice initiatives, as well as Charter rights education and advocacy.
