Kiersten Sanderson (she/they) is Anishinaabe from Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation and currently a law student at Robson Hall. In 2023, they received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Indigenous Studies from the University of Manitoba. Kiersten has a strong interest in Indigenous rights, sovereignty and the law as well as criminal justice. She wishes to focus her future legal career on working with and for Indigenous peoples and communities. Previously, Kiersten was a representative on the Southern Chiefs’ Organization’s Youth Council and is currently the VP of Professional Development for the Manitoba Indigenous Law Students Association. As a part of the University of Manitoba’s 2024 Indigenous Summer Student Internship Program, Kiersten is joining the Just Waters: Thinking with hydro-social relations for a more just and sustainable world project.
