Dr. Xiaoxiao Du (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education. Her research centers on language and literacy learning and teaching, with a focus on promoting asset-based literacy pedagogies and investigating meaning-making practices of culturally and linguistically diverse learners across time, space, and modes. She employs qualitative methodologies to investigate the complex intersections of language, race, culture, and identity through sociocultural, sociopolitical, and sociomaterial lenses. Committed to fostering critical awareness and advancing culturally sustaining pedagogies, Dr. Du advocates for the transformative power of storytelling, multimodal text-making, and community knowledge sharing.
