Employment & Internship Opportunities

Grave systemic barriers exist in the academy for under-represented groups including women, gender-diverse and non-conforming people, Indigenous, racialized or BIPOC, disabled, and 2SLGBTTQIA*. We recognize that many individuals fit within several groups and this intersectionality can further marginalize them. In an effort to address this, CHRR will consciously work to expand and deepen the representation of under-represented groups on our team.

Just Waters is hiring!

The Just Waters: Thinking Through Hydro-Social Relations for a More Just World project is an interdisciplinary research project based at the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry campus. Funded by the University’s IGNITE programme, Just Waters brings together researchers from seven faculties and bridges natural and human sciences and fine arts and is focused on three streams: Indigenous people and water (injustice), histories and futures of water, and water and climate change. We are seeking an Indigenous scholar, researcher or research-creator to undertake an independent research project with the support of mentors drawn from the Just Waters team. The research project should speak directly to the Just Waters project’s goals and contribute to our collaborative research. In keeping with the Just Waters project’s interdisciplinary character, we are open to research projects from all disciplines and areas of research creation and inquiry that address water and justice. This includes but is not restricted to the fields of Indigenous Studies (including Indigenous water laws, ontologies, histories, or politics), Environmental Science or Studies (including water quality such as measurements of nutrients, pesticides, heavy metals, antibiotic resistant genes, or pathogens, drinking water distribution systems), Hydrology (including water quantity such as flooding or drought), Water Management, Creative and Performing Arts, Human Rights, Health Studies and Sciences. The Research Associate will be provided with office space and administrative support. The Research Associate will also be expected to present their research to the Just Waters group, wider UM community, and the public.
