Brie (they/them) is a second-year graduate student in the Joint Masters Program in History at the Universities of Manitoba/Winnipeg. Their thesis research is a history of the vocational work programs operated by the Manitoba Development Centre in Portage la Prairie from the years 1930-1980. They hope to contribute to the ongoing field of critical disability studies by highlighting how and why certain people were thought to be able to work, but not worthy of being paid.
