Jaden Dela Rosa

she/her

Jaden is a first-year PhD student in Social and Personality Psychology at the University of Manitoba. Born and raised in Treaty 1 Territory with Filipino and mixed European ancestry, and with familial ties to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities across Turtle Island, she has witnessed firsthand the impacts of colonialism, racism, and systemic inequality.

Building on her master’s thesis, which explored how we might strengthen support for reconciliation, her doctoral work examines how Filipinos in Canada can more actively engage with Indigenous peoples by recognizing shared histories of colonization, displacement, and resilience. She is a student collaborator on the Canadian Reconciliation Barometer, which tracks perceptions of progress toward reconciliation across Canada, and takes a community-engaged approach to research that fosters empathy, solidarity, and stronger relationships between communities.

Beyond research, Jaden organizes with PAGSAMA, supports trainees in her department through SPIRIT, and is a member of the Asian Psychology Section of the Canadian Psychological Association, engaging in community-building and advocacy-focused initiatives. She has also developed tools to assess medical applicants on key non-academic attributes and contributes to social policy evaluation in the child welfare system, advancing meaningful change for marginalized communities.
