Lilja Best (she/her) is a first-year master’s student in the Department of Entomology. She holds a B.A. (Honours) in History from the University of Manitoba, along with an M.A. in History from Trent University. Throughout her research, Lilja asks how humans’ understandings of, and relationships with the natural world have changed over time, and how this history might inform environmental education and communication in the present. She is particularly passionate about insects, and what a more ethical relationship with them might look like. When she’s not at the university, you can find Lilja caught up in her latest sewing project, hanging out with her cats, or crouched down on the sidewalk admiring a cool bug.
